Privacy policy

How we handle your information.

Last updated: [DATE]. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do. It applies to this website and to the business directory it runs.

In short: we collect only what we need to list your business and to reply to you. We do not sell your information. We never see your card number. You can ask us to correct or remove your information at any time.

Who we are

This site is run by Perry Ritthaler, operating as [BUSINESS OR TRADE NAME] in [PROVINCE], Canada. You can reach us at [YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS] or through the contact page.

What we collect

  • Information you send us. When you use our forms, we receive your name, email address, phone number, role, and the business details you give us, such as the business name, address, hours, website and description.
  • Business listing information. We also add basic business details from public sources, such as a chamber of commerce member list or a business’s own website. These listings are marked “Unverified” until the owner confirms them.
  • Payment information. If you buy Premium or an Ad Page, payment is handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation that you paid, your name and email, and the subscription status. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Messages to a business. If you use a “Request a quote” form on a business page, your name, email, phone and message are sent to that business and to us.
  • Visit information. Like most websites, our hosting and [NAME YOUR ANALYTICS TOOL, e.g. Google Analytics, or delete this line if you use none] may record technical details such as your browser, device, pages visited and approximate location.

Why we use it

  • To create, show, correct and remove business listings and Ad Pages.
  • To reply to your messages and requests.
  • To take payment, manage subscriptions and keep records.
  • To pass quote requests to the business you asked.
  • To understand how the site is used and to keep it secure.

We contact business owners about their listing, their request, or a service relevant to their business. Every message from us says who we are and how to stop receiving messages.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the services that help us run the site:

  • Stripe for payments and subscriptions.
  • Formspree for delivering form messages to us by email.
  • Our website host and email provider, [NAME YOUR HOST, e.g. Hostinger], who store the site and its data.
  • The business you contact, when you send a quote request.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.

Some of these services store information outside Canada, including in the United States. They are bound by their own privacy and security policies.

What is public

A business listing is public by design. It shows the business name, trade, town, phone, hours, website and description. We do not publish a home address or a personal phone number for people who work from home. If a listing shows something you want changed, tell us and we will fix it.

How long we keep it

We keep listing information while the listing is live. We keep payment and billing records as long as the law requires for tax and accounting. We keep form messages for as long as we need them to deal with your request, and then delete them. If you ask us to remove a listing, we take it off the site and keep only a short note of the request so we do not re-add it by mistake.

Your choices

  • Ask what information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
  • Ask us to remove your listing or delete your information.
  • Ask us to stop sending you messages.

Use the listing request form for corrections and removals, or contact us for anything else. We respond within [30] days.

Keeping it safe

We use reputable services, secure connections (https) and limited access to protect your information. No system is completely secure, so please do not send card numbers or passwords through our forms.

Children

This site is for business owners and people looking for local businesses. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Big changes will be noted on the site.
