The Convergence
Case

A Global Network • A Hidden Agenda

A decade-long pursuit of a missing scientist leads investigators into a labyrinth of technology, financial networks, international partnerships, and a mysterious system known only as STAR WARS. Three original analytical diagrams—and two additional case maps— reveal a story that may be larger than anyone anticipated.

Project: Fictional Spy Thriller Document: Story Development Brief Access: Writers & Production Partners
Fictional intelligence notice: This is an original story-development concept. The diagrams and report are creative devices for a fictional spy thriller. They are not genuine NATO documents, intelligence assessments, or evidence of covert activity by real governments, companies, or individuals. References to real countries and international organizations are used as part of the fictional narrative.
Director’s Briefing // Opening Assessment

The Case Reopens

A new pattern emerges from evidence accumulated over ten years. The question is no longer simply where the scientist went.

01 // Executive Summary

For more than a decade, the scientist has remained one of the most elusive figures in the investigation. Repeated sightings, unexplained research transfers, and a trail of disconnected corporate relationships have produced more questions than answers.

The discovery of three interconnected diagrams changes the direction of the investigation. What first appeared to be a series of unrelated financial and technological anomalies may form a single fictional network—one in which resources, infrastructure, research, and influence move through carefully separated channels.

Investigators now face a disturbing possibility: the scientist may not be operating alone. But whether the surrounding actors are collaborators, unwitting intermediaries, or competing interests remains unresolved.

02 // Working Hypothesis

The Convergence

The diagrams suggest a possible relationship between resource control, alternative systems, technology development, and the expansion of global influence.

Within the film’s fictional world, investigators suspect that a hidden network is attempting to coordinate these elements around a long-term strategic objective.

  • Separate operations may share a common coordinator.
  • The scientist may connect otherwise isolated networks.
  • Research may have both civilian and strategic applications.
  • Financial and infrastructure links may conceal the true objective.
  • The STAR WARS system may be the missing layer.

Assessment: A narrative hypothesis—not a verified conclusion.

Visual Evidence // Five Case Documents

The Diagram Archive

Explore the five diagrams developed for the investigation. Start with the broader picture, examine the suspected connections, and finish with the larger question: What is the ultimate objective?

Analytical Framework // Fictional Case Logic

How Investigators Read the Pattern

The following sequence translates the diagrams into a logical storyline for the writers’ room.

01
Starting Point

Identify the Resources

The investigators examine the role of energy, critical minerals, food, water, land, and satellite information. In the fictional case, these are not random commodities; they may be pieces of a much larger strategic puzzle.

02
Follow the Links

Trace the Network

Financial transactions, research partnerships, infrastructure, and technology transfers appear to connect separate entities. The team must determine whether the links indicate genuine coordination or simply overlapping interests.

03
Central Mystery

Locate the Scientist

The missing scientist becomes the pivotal figure. Did the scientist create the network, join an existing operation, or discover something that others are trying to control?

04
Hidden Layer

Decode STAR WARS

The mysterious STAR WARS network may connect the visible operations to a concealed technological or strategic system. Its meaning is deliberately withheld until the story’s central reveal.

05
Escalation

Test the Theory

The investigators face conflicting evidence. Some connections may be authentic, others staged. The deeper they investigate, the more difficult it becomes to separate the truth from a carefully constructed deception.

06
Story Payoff

Reveal the Objective

The final question is not simply who is involved. It is what the network is designed to accomplish—and why the scientist has spent ten years staying one step ahead of everyone.

Character & Network Analysis

The Players in the Mystery

These are fictional narrative roles. Their motives and relationships remain open questions for the screenplay.

The International Investigators THE SEARCH FOR THE TRUTH

A multinational investigative team has pursued the scientist for more than a decade. Its members must balance incomplete evidence, competing jurisdictions, and the possibility that the case has been manipulated from within.

  • Reconstruct the scientist’s movements.
  • Compare the diagrams with discovered evidence.
  • Distinguish facts from assumptions.
  • Identify who benefits from the confusion.

The International Network THE VISIBLE STRUCTURE

In the fictional scenario, several international actors appear to share overlapping interests in resources, technology, infrastructure, and financial systems. The investigation asks whether these relationships are coordinated or merely being interpreted as a single network.

  • Political and economic relationships.
  • Technology and research partnerships.
  • Infrastructure and supply-chain interests.
  • Unknown intermediaries and competing agendas.

The Scientist THE MISSING LINK // CENTRAL CHARACTER

A brilliant and elusive scientist at the centre of the investigation. After a decade of pursuit, investigators discover clues suggesting that the scientist may have access to research, facilities, and networks spanning multiple regions.

The central uncertainty is whether the scientist is the architect of the conspiracy, a reluctant participant, or the only person who understands what STAR WARS really is.

Key Story Questions

  • What was the scientist’s original discovery?
  • Why did the scientist disappear?
  • Who funded the research?
  • Who has been protecting the scientist?
  • Is STAR WARS a weapon, a network, or something else?
  • What does the scientist know that nobody else does?
Writers’ Room // Evidence Discipline

What the Diagrams Suggest

A strong thriller benefits from a distinction between what characters know, what they suspect, and what turns out to be true.

Established Within the Story

  • A scientist has been pursued for more than a decade.
  • Investigators have discovered a collection of unusual diagrams.
  • The diagrams depict resources, networks, and strategic relationships.
  • The scientist is connected to the central mystery.
  • The term STAR WARS appears to describe a hidden system.

Working Theories

  • The diagrams may represent a coordinated plan.
  • Multiple organizations may share a hidden objective.
  • The scientist may be a coordinator or a target.
  • Financial and technological systems may conceal the network.
  • The apparent end goal may be a deliberate misdirection.

Unresolved Questions

  • Who originally created the diagrams?
  • Are the connections genuine, staged, or misunderstood?
  • What does STAR WARS actually control?
  • Who is manipulating the investigation?
  • What happened during the missing decade?

Potential Plot Reversal

The investigators believe they have uncovered a global conspiracy. But the diagrams may have been designed to lead them toward that conclusion.

The scientist may have drawn the diagrams as a warning—or as the final stage of a plan that began ten years earlier.

The evidence may be real. The interpretation may be the trap.

Building the Next Act

Suggested development directions for the writing team. These ideas can be adapted to the wider D.W. Workshop universe.

Recommended Story Structure

Act I // The Discovery An apparently insignificant document surfaces after years of dead ends. A recurring symbol links the scientist to a forgotten investigation.
Act II // The Convergence The diagrams reveal an apparent network. Investigators pursue the financial, technological, and human connections while someone begins removing the evidence.
Act III // The Hidden Layer The meaning of STAR WARS emerges. The team discovers that the scientist’s disappearance may have been part of a much more complicated plan.
Final Reveal // The Choice The scientist must decide whether to expose the truth, complete the original mission, or destroy the system before it can be activated.

Questions for the Writers

  • What did the scientist discover ten years ago that changed the course of the story?
  • Is the scientist a villain, a reluctant architect, or a character whose motives are more complicated?
  • Why were the diagrams divided into separate parts?
  • Who wants the investigators to find the diagrams?
  • What is the real meaning of STAR WARS?
  • Does the apparent conspiracy exist—or is it a carefully engineered illusion?
  • What personal cost has the decade-long pursuit created for the investigators?
“They spent ten years looking for the man. They never asked who wanted them to find him.”
Final Case Note

The Diagram Is Only the Beginning

The diagrams give the investigation a shape. The screenplay gives it a human story. The most compelling mystery may not be the existence of a hidden network, but the reason the scientist created—or became part of—it.
